Mountainview Veterinary Service is a rural based veterinary practice. We have two offices located in Keyser, WV and Petersburg, WV. The practice is owned and operated by Cheryl Nguyen, DVM; Anna Smith, DVM; and Isaiah Smith, DVM. The practice prides itself in providing high quality care to its cherished clients and their animals.

Cheryl L. Nguyen, DVM is originally from Philippi, West Virginia. She graduated West Virginia University Summa Cum-laude with her Bachelor’s degree in Animal and Veterinary Science in 2005.She then attended the University Of Georgia College Of Veterinary Medicine and graduated Cum-laude with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2009.She became an owner of Mountainview Veterinary Services June 1, 2010.Dr. Nguyen resides in Keyser, West Virginia with her husband Tony Nguyen and daughters, Kayla and Ellie who were born in 2010 and 2012 with another little girl on the way! She enjoys traveling, skiing, water sports, family and friends. Dr. Nguyen specializes in companion animal practice in both our Keyser and Petersburg clinics.
Anna C. Smith, DVM is originally from Claxton, Georgia. She graduated from the University of Georgia Summa Cum-laude with her degree in Agricultural Science in 2006. She double majored in Avian Biology and Biological Science. She then attended the University Of Georgia College Of Veterinary Medicine and graduated Cum-laude with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2010.She became an owner of Mountainview Veterinary Services June 1, 2010. She married Isaiah J. Smith, DVM, and MFAM in 2007.They now reside in Keyser, West Virginia with their five fur children: Jazzy, Maggie, Little Buddy, Benny, and Louie. Dr. Smith enjoys animal rescue, family, friends, and movies. She specializes in our companion animal practice in both Keyser and Petersburg clinics.
Isaiah J. Smith, DVM is originally from Riverton, West Virginia. He attended Potomac State College and received his Associates degrees in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science. He graduated from West Virginia University Summa Cum-laude with his degree in Animal and Veterinary Science in 2005. He attended the University Of Georgia College Of Veterinary Medicine and graduated Cum-laude with his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2009. He received his Masters Degree in Food Animal Health and Management from the University Of Georgia Department Of Population Health in 2010. Dr. Smith became an owner of Mountainview Veterinary Services June 1, 2010. He married Anna Smith, DVM in 2007. They reside in Keyser, West Virginia He enjoys farming as a hobby, improving his Angus cattle herd through artificial insemination, water skiing, and snow skiing. Dr. Smith specializes in our large animal practice.
Jeremy B. Shumaker, DVM is originally from Keyser, West Virginia. He attended West Virginia University for his undergraduate in Animal and Nutritional Sciences. He attended Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2011. Dr. Shumaker came to Mountainview Veterinary Services in June 2011.He resides in Keyser, West Virginia with his dog, Stevie and his cat, Maddie. He enjoys family, friends, movies, music, and involvement in church activities. Dr. Shumaker specializes in our companion animal and large animal practices in both Keyser and Petersburg clinics.
GISELLE BOERTJENS, DVM grew up in Prairieville, Louisiana. She graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 2007 with her Bachelor's degree in Animal Science Pre-Veterinary Medicine. She then attended the University of Minnesota and graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. Dr. Boertjens joined Mountainview Veterinary Services in June 2013. She now resides in Keyser, West Virginia with her Golden Retriever, Jackson, and two cats, Humphrey and Captain. During her free time, she enjoys spending time in the great outdoors, reading, and catching up with friends. Dr. Boertjens sees both companion and large animals, but focuses on large animals in practice.

Heather R. Jewell, RVT resides in Old Fields, West Virginia. She attended Fairmont State University and graduated with her associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology in 2010.She came to Mountainview Veterinary Services in April 2010. Heather became a Registered Veterinary Technician in April 2011.She is engaged to Lucas McCoy. She enjoys 4-wheeler riding and spending time with family and friends. Heather specializes in our companion animal and large animal practices in the Keyser clinic.
Nichole L. Ours, Veterinary Assistant resides in Cabins, WV with her husband, Joe, and their 4 'fur babies'. She graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from WVU in Animal and Nutritional Sciences in 2009 and is attending Penn Foster to become a registered veterinary technician. Nichole came to Mountainview Veterinary Services in January 2011. She enjoys hunting, fishing, and photography. Owner of Mountain View Photography, Nichole specializes in our companion animal practice in Petersburg.
Erica D. Kelley, Veterinary Assistant is originally from Elk Garden, West Virginia. She graduated high school from Union High School in 2004.She is currently enrolled in Penn Foster College for her Associates degree in Veterinary Technology. She came to Mountainview Veterinary Services in May 2011.Erica resides in Elk Garden, West Virginia with her two dogs Trixie and Romeo. She does foster care for dogs. Erica enjoys playing basketball, camping, boating, 4-wheeler riding, movies and reading. She works in our Keyser clinic.
Hannah Plaugher, Veterinary Assistant is attending West Virginia University for her undergraduate degree in Animal and Nutritional Sciences. She has recently been accepted to Mississippi State University Veterinary School! She came to Mountainview Veterinary Services in June 2011 after interning for the practice since October 2010.Hannah resides in Franklin, West Virginia and is an assistant at the Petersburg clinic. She enjoys horse showing, large animal activities, and taking care of rescued orphan animals.
Brittany Hott, Veterinary Assistant is from Kirby, WV. She has been with us since May 2013. She graduated from West Virginia University with her Bachelors in Animal and Nutritional Sciences. She is currently taking classes through Penn Foster to become a registered technician. She enjoys hunting and spending time with her boyfriend, Richard. Brittany works in our Keyser office as well as with Dr. Boertjens on large animal calls.
Ricky Weimer, Veterinary Assistant is from the Frostburg, MD area. Ricky graduated from Mountain Ridge High School in 2009. He is finishing his last year at Potomac State College and plans to transfer to Virginia Tech or WVU to get his Bachelors in Animal Nutrition or Animal and Poultry Science. He would like to further his education afterwards by continuing into Veterinary school. He enjoys football, tennis, golf, and all kinds of music. Ricky has a dog named Luke. He's been with MVS since June 2012.
Logan Riggleman, Veterinary Assistant graduated from Moorefield High School in 2013 and is in his first semester at Potomac State College studying Animal Science. He started with Mountainview in the summer of 2012. In his spare time, he likes to spend time with friends and family, farm, hunt, show cattle, and ride four wheelers. He also enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, Paige. Logan works predominantly with Dr. Isaiah in the large animal field.
Jackie Wimer, Veterinary Assistant came to work with us initially in November 2007 when Dr. Matlick owned the practice. She took a break when her daughter, Maddie, was born and is now back with us! Jackie and Maddie live in Petersburg. Jackie enjoys spending time with her daughter, friends, as well as outdoors. She is currently taking classes through Penn Foster to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. Jackie works in our Petersburg office.
Patty Smith, Receptionist came to Mountainview Veterinary Services in May 2010. She has been married to Mervin Smith, Jr. for 24 years. She has two daughters, Holly and Charlene. Patty is enrolled in classes through Potomac State College. Patty enjoys being by the lake and reading some of her favorite books. She works in the Keyser clinic.
Cindy Warner, Receptionist, came to Mountainview Veterinary Services in June 2011. She resides in Franklin, West Virginia with her husband Darell and several cats, dogs, and horses. Cindy has 5 children. In her free time she enjoys growing strawberries and pumpkins for market, horseback riding, reading, and every once in a while doing nothing. Cindy works in our Petersburg clinic.
Amber N. Miller, Receptionist is origionally from Petersburg, WV. She attended Eastern Community College and received her Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Developement in 2010. Amber came to Mountainview Veterinary Services in September 2011. Amber resides in Keyser with her husband, Jared, and their new baby, Paxton. Amber enjoys horse back riding and spending time with her family. Amber also owns Country Chic Boutique and Rentals.
Audrey Burns, Receptionist lives in Antioch, WV her husband, James, and their 2 boys, Colten and Caleb. She came to Mountainview in September 2012. Audrey enjoys reading and spending time with friends and family. Audrey works in our Keyser office.
Barbie Wine, Receptionist lives in New Creek, WV. She has her AAS in Medical Administration from Rasmussen College. Barbie started at Mountainview in April of 2013. She enjoys car shows and snuggling with her 4 fur-babies. Barbie works primarily in our Keyser office but is also in Petersburg one day a week.
Louise Crawford, head of childcare and custodial services lives in Antioch, WV with her husband, Curtis. They enjoy going out and singing the gospel in nursing homes and other churches, or wherever they're asked to go! They attend and are very active at the Antioch Church of God. Louise has been with Mountainview for 5 years. She enjoys taking care of Dr. Cheryl's babies very much!
